Were you restricted from cabin use due to Forest Service or state/local mandates?
If you have been prevented from use of your cabin, you may be eligible for a reduced permit fee.
NFH is aware that permit-holders in specific forests may have received notifications regarding cabin access. While most forests did not restrict access to cabins as a result of pandemic concerns, this was not true for all forests. For those who could not use their cabins, it may be appropriate to request that the Forest Service credit some of your fee for the current year based on the proportion of impaired access.
NFH suggests that you weigh the impact of the closure. One or two weeks, while not ideal, is generally not considered a significant impact. Longer periods, especially in those forests with limited seasonal access, may warrant a request for a Temporary Fee Adjustment.
