CABIN FEE ACT INTRODUCED IN US SENATE

On July 23rd, Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) introduced the Cabin Fee Act of 2013 in the Senate. The bill is S. 1341.  Five bipartisan cosponsors joined Senator Tester on S. 1341:  Senators Max Baucus (D-MT), Diane Feinstein (D-CA), John Barrasso (R-WY), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Mike Enzi (R-WY) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA).  S. 1341 is a critical step towards replacement of the current, badly flawed CUFFA system for determining cabin fees that has been condemned by cabin owners throughout the nation. With its bipartisan support, the 2013 Senate Cabin Fee Act parallels similar legislation in the House of Representatives. Cabin owners & USFS will now work with Congress to enact into law this vital reform of the cabin fee system. A copy of the Senate bill will be posted on the NFH website in the next few days after it is officially enrolled with the Library of Congress. Here is a preliminary status report link. This will be updated and you may refer to it in the coming days as it is updated. You may also follow on the National Forest Homeowners website >> www.nationalforesthomeowners.org/
