In recent discussions with Forest Service management at its Washington, D.C. headquarters the Forest Service advised NFH Washington Representative Aubrey King that it will not be increasing in 2011 cabin owner’s use permit fees beyond those billed ln 2010. This action will be in effect during the current Continuing Resolution or until further action by Congress.
This action will be in effect at least until the March 4, 2011, expiration of the Continuing Resolution passed by the recent Lame Duck Session of Congress to provide appropriations for all Federal programs on a short term basis. Forest Service continuance of this suspension of further fee increases beyond that date will be determined by what Congress does on appropriations legislation after March 4th and Congressional action regarding the 2011 Cabin Fee Act. The NFH and the C2 Coalition will continue vigorously to pursue positive Congressional action beneficial to cabin owners.
