FOREST CLOSED TO PREVENT FIRE DANGER

MONDAY, SEPT. 7, 2020

The USFS has closed the Forest to the General Public to minimize fire danger in this week of high fire activity:

“You are required to follow the terms of your special use permit. You are strongly urged to leave by 5 p.m. today. If you do not leave, you cannot be anywhere on the forest except at your residence. Day use areas, trails and forest roads are off limits. Please do the right thing.”

“The post office and store will remain open as they are essential services. “

“No new wilderness permits will be issued at this time.”

The closure is unprecedented and being undertaken to minimize risk to public safety. USFS will  not be going door-to-door, and it is not an evacuation.
